Christian Schools Needed

Several weeks ago I attended a seminar that was, to say the least, eye-opening. Several topics were presented, and I will be discussing them in future articles. But I think everyone needs to know about one of those topics right away, and that is the concept of “full-service schools”.

Actually, it is more than just a concept. It is an idea that has been implemented in many schools across the country, and is now being implemented here in Tulsa.

The schools that most adults my age attended as children focused on education fundamentals – reading, writing, and arithmetic in the beginning years, then math, sciences, languages, history and social sciences in our latter years.

But over time, our judicial system has been a willing accomplice in the breakdown of the family. The removal of prayer from schools, the legalization of abortion, and the diminishment of Judeo-Christian beliefs has led to a society of single mothers, absent fathers, and disfunctional families. This has led to a society of child neglect, child abuse and lack of discipline in both our homes and our schools.

On top of it all, the cost of medical care has grown so costly that many people have either dropped their health insurance coverage, or will soon.

All of this is leading to a society that increasingly believes in dependency on government rather than the kind of self-sufficiency that made this country great. Society’s attitude is becoming one who believes that an individual’s problems are insurmountable by one’s own initiative, and unsolvable without the help of the government.

Not everyone in this country believes, this of course. There are still many people left who still believe in taking responsibility for the care and upbringing of their children. However, even among those, there are a great number who are so busy, so consumed by careers, and so overwhelmed with problems that they simply can’t cope with one more.

However, this is that “one more” problem that we can’t afford to ignore, because our children’s futures are at stake. In fact, our society’s future is at stake, because the full-service school is nothing more than the incremental introduction of socialism, and it is being presented in a way that is extremely seductive.

Believe it or not, the primary purpose of a full-service school is not education, although its proponents will say that it’s ultimate goal is creating an educational system that will help our children compete in a global economy.

Here’s what you can expect to find at a full-service school .

Medical services – need a doctor but can’t afford one? A physician will be available at your child’s school. By the way, in some cases, if you accept these services, the school will require that their in-school clinic become the primary medical care provider not just for your child, but your whole family.
Dental care.
Psychological counseling and mental health screenings.
Vision screenings, and free glasses if needed.
Immunizations.
Child care.
Individual and family counseling.
Teen parenting support.
Economic and legal services.
Meals.
Thrift shops.
Anti-drug programs.
Anti-gang programs.
Pregnancy counseling and referrals to abortion agencies (without parental notification).

And in all the research that I looked at, meeting fundamental educational requirements and goals were barely mentioned.

The fact is that those who want this country to become a socialist nation want and need our children to grow up believing that all of their care should be the government’s job, not their parents, because when they grow up and have their own children, they will be more than willing to hand them over to a socialist system.

No one likes to believe this is happening. It is so preposterous and outrageous that it smacks of conspiracy theory and chicken little. But it is real, and it is growing.

There is still time to do something. Outcome Based Education was defeated when the public became aware of how destructive it was. We can stop this movement as well.

One way to is to pull our children out of the public school systems. My wife and I did so six years ago to home school our children. Another solution is to start our own Christian schools in sufficient numbers and quality that the children of Christians will be the best educated people in the nation. Those children would receive real education, not be bombarded with socialistic ideas that rob the human spirit. They will become the hope for this nation to remain great.

More on this next week, but in the meantime, don’t take my word for it. Get on the internet and start researching this subject yourself.
